Sunday 25th Sept Club run for beginners and family's
A fantastic turn out for our second beginners club run. 37 riders turned up today to ride to the Red Rooster in Penrith. Some great bike riding was seen and it is brilliant to see all of our Go Ride members make the transition onto the road and see them use all the skills that they have been learning at the Go Ride Sessions this year. Well done to our Go Ride Coaches, Ruth, Ian and Duncan for organising a great day out. If you want more of these, please get in touch with Ruth via the email system.
Junior Puppy update
Junior has been very busy over the past few months and he has made real progress. He is a very loving pup, always brings a toy gift when his Puppy 'wlkers return home. He likes hollow bones and carries one around in his mouth making excitable talking/groaning sounds until he's been noticed. He's confident, obedient and loves people.
Junior is what they call at puppy class, a "doing' pup, he wants to be doing something all the time and loves nothing better than to be working - Howerver this means he's struggling with sitting and lying when he needs to. He is also struggling with being clean on walks, he prefers to 'go' when he is out so his puppy walker is working very hard to help him overcome this.
Junior is very happy in his training on the whole but he doesn't like going on the bus and train. So his puppy handler regularly travel and try to make it more enjoyable. Junior is improving at walking on the lead. In busy places junior reacts extremely well. He copes with stairs really well but some times could slow down a little. All in all, he is doing really well.
Fantastic riding from all of the riders who took part in Border City Juniors Go Ride Racing in Bitts park, there was some brilliant rides and some really competitive racing from all the riders. Thanks to Scotby Cycles for some generous and really good prizes. Thank you to all the parents who helped organise the event.
Another fantastic performance from Anna Armstrong, seen here crossing the line on the final stage of the 3 day, North West International Tour. Anna saw off some stiff competition in the 5 event stage race which took part over the Bank Holiday weekend. Border City Wheelers had 7 riders competing overall. Wind and rain didn't stop play.
A big well done to Johhny Bouch who headed over the border on Sunday to compete in the Dumfries Criteriums. Johhny continued his current form and and after breaking away early managed to lap the field. Johhny and the rest of his team mates are off to Blackpool this weekend for the Tour of Blackpool. A 3 day - 5 stage race.
Congratulations to Harry Craig for continuing his current form and knocking an impressive 1 minute 18 seconds off his personal best time. This puts Harry in a strong position in the clubs league time trial competition and he is currently lying second overall in league 3 (this includes the adults) with a 'race in hand'. Congratulations also go to Jordan Hull who road the VC Cumbria's Embleton 10 course on the 17th May and also produced a PB time of 25 minutes 0 seconds. Well done Jordan.
Congratulations to Ellis Kirkbride for Saturday's impressive performance two 2nd places meant Ellis won the overall race. This was backed up by his team mate Alex Foster going top of the league overall in the closely contested U14 division. Anna Armstrong kept up her impressive season winning the under 10 girls and Johnny Bouch continued his good form with second place in under 10 boys, keeping him on course for a podium place in the overall classification. Well done to all the other riders in windy conditions on a greasy circuit.
